We utilise products from globally represented as well as UK based organisations to maintain the best possible offering to our clients and offer solutions covering fixed point to point, point to multi-point, backhaul, disaster recovery, alternate route / resilient route provision, wi-fi networking, traffic management / monitoring, leased line replacement, CCTV over Wireless and Voice over Wireless to name a few. In fact, we feel that the simplest way to view wireless is that of it being an IP transport medium capable of delivering all IP enabled traffic.

Point to Point

Point to Point solutions are available from various vendors and can be both licensed and license exempt or ‘light licensed’. These solutions are typically used for connecting two buildings together and speeds of up to 1gigabit are possible. Most of the products we offer are scalable and can be purchased initially at a lesser cost with less bandwidth and can then be upgraded via software to higher bandwidth as and when the client has the budget or desire to do so.

Point to Multi Point

Point to Multi-Point solutions are typically utilised in situations whereby one site can be used to serve one or more other sites. This solution usually uses a central base station or access point, which acts as a hub and connecting buildings would use subscriber units or client devices in a shared environment. Bandwidth from the central base station is shared amongst the connecting remote sites and this can be increased / decreased via software on a site by site basis. This solution is typically deployed in more urban environments where multiple sites can be connected effectively. Speeds of up to 100mbps can be achieved at the central base station site, with subscriber sites connecting at anything from 64kbps to 54mbps.

Wireless Backhaul

When the need arises to get high speed links between key sites, Aerelink use high capacity licensed and license exempt (light licensed) technology capable of delivering bandwidths up to 1Gbps at up to 5Km or 800mpbs at distances up to 40km or further with additional hop sites. These systems are also utilised by major telecommunications companies around the world, including the UK for the same purpose – delivering high speed reliable connections between key locations. There may also be the need to use 3rd party mast type structures in order to help overcome line of sight issues in some cases, and where this is the case, Aerelink are conversant with all the necessary planning and implementation considerations required in order to overcome any such issue. This may include obtaining the necessary site sharing agreements with mast operators, way leaves etc, and even complete tower construction if required.

Alternate Route Provision

Alternate route provision put simply, is the means of providing a different way of getting connectivity from one location to another. In the case of networking, and with specific regard to reliability, this may mean that in order to keep your network operational at all times a wireless link may be deployed to ‘back-up’ an existing fixed wire link between key sites. Clients may also wish to use both wired and wireless links simultaneously in order to increase the available bandwidth between these sites, safe in the knowledge that if the fixed line were to have an outage, the wireless link would provide seamless sustainable bandwidth until fixed.

Disaster Recovery

An ever increasing number of clients are protecting the core of their network infrastructure by having a disaster recovery plan. Wireless systems really shine in this environment, as they can be deployed quickly, often the same day, or in the case with many existing clients, a wireless link is installed as a stand-by between the main network node location and the disaster recovery suite, ready to spring into life, should the unfortunate occur. Point to Point systems are usually deployed in these circumstances and again, bandwidths can be anything from 10Mbps up to 1Gbps.

'WiFi' Networks

Wi-Fi has become the ubiquitous connection medium for a variety of devices.  Mobile Phones, Games Consoles and IP CCTV Cameras with Wi-Fi functionality have been on the market for several years, and most modern laptop PCs come with Wi-Fi as standard.  Building a small Wi-Fi Network is inexpensive and easy, but when solutions need to be scaled to cover enterprise customers, a different set of rules must be applied.    Wi-Fi is an unlicenced medium, and very commonplace, so careful interference scanning and channel planning must be taken into consideration.  Aerelink have several years experience implementing large Wi-Fi Networks, so you can be sure your network will be properly planned, solid and secure.

Leased Line Replacement

For many years now, many clients have reaped the rewards of replacing fiber and leased lines / circuits with wireless systems. Immediate benefits are usually increased bandwidth, but there is the added benefit of lower revenue costs too. Many Aerelink customers have attested to halving the annual costs that they would normally have paid to rent / lease the traditional circuits. The only on-going costs associated with wireless is maintenance and this yields yet another benefit in that Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) are a complete contrast to those associated with what you would expect from a fiber or leased circuit. Our SLA’s are 8 hour response as standard, but some clients enjoy a 2 hour response and that means an engineer dispatched to the client site within two hours of a call being raised, with all the necessary spares required to effect repairs. Try getting a traditional TELCO to match that!

Traffic/Environment Monitoring

It is worth remembering that many traffic signals and other traffic management devices are networked / centrally managed and this usually involves installing a fiber or leased line / fixed circuit to each location with the obvious cost implications that this may throw up. Wireless systems can again do away with the need for these leased circuits. Any traffic signal or traffic management system such as Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), environmental monitoring stations that are IP capable can be served with wireless. This does away with costly track dig / trench work and of course the annual rental cost of the circuit and can be managed as a separate entity to the corporate network. Again, cost savings can be vast over the annual line rentals associated with traditional offerings.

Voice Over Wireless

Transmitting voice over wireless has been a hot topic for some time. Many clients are skeptical about quality and latency issues, but wireless systems provide not only high availability low latency links, but can also be set up to prioritize the voice traffic over the data traffic, thus making sure that the voice call takes precedent. Making this further step away from traditional telephone lines is a big one for many people, but in order to fully enjoy the benefit of owning your entire infrastructure and the cost savings associated with it, it is a step worth taking. Many local authority clients now run much of their voice traffic over wireless after much testing and proving of the concept and to date, we at least have had no negative feedback.

Wireless CCTV

Conventional Analogue or more modern IP Camera hardware fits very well with wireless technology. There are even wireless camera’s which as the name suggests are completely wireless and have the camera and wireless component in one unit. Wireless links are often used in environments where the digging for ducting for new cameras is not only time consuming but also costly. Wireless systems are also used in circumstances where rapid deployment or temporary deployment is required, for example there may be the need to deploy a camera for a short period during a public event in order to monitor activity. It goes without saying that in these circumstances the fast, cost effective and portable nature in which wireless technology can be deployed is in its own world.
